Originating in France as a pointer and retriever. The Wirehaired Pointing Griffon is a rugged looking dog that is built for the outdoors. They have webbed feet for swimming and a coarse coat for insulation. They are characterized as expert gundogs that are able to both point and retrieve. Though they are quite rare as other pointers are usually chosen over them in the field. This dog breed is loyal, obedient, pleasant and funny. At times they may be wary of strangers. If you do not use this breed as a retriever in the field. It is necessary to exercise them each day with a long walk or run. These dogs stand from 20-24 inches at the shoulder and weigh 50-60 lbs. Their coat is colored in gray with brown or white and brown. Other colors that are less recognized are completely white, brown, or white and orange. This pointer has a great nose so they may lead you on a walk.
