A perennially popular breed, the Westie has been used as the face of dog food and, along with a black Scottish Terrier, Scotch whiskey. This dog is a joy and was created for a sober reason. Originating in the United Kingdom, standing 10-11 inches and weighing from 15-22 lbs. These terriers requires minimal exercise though adequate is recommended. It has a medium length coat which needs brushing twice a week. This dog breed is colored in white and as a result is more susceptible to skin problems. Most dogs with white coats are susceptible to skin problems. Westies are also prone to allergies from the environment and food. The West Highland White Terrier is a bundle of fun for the entire family. They are highly affectionate and all around lovable, trusting and intelligent. Their faults may be their tendency to dig and bark. Westies are also known to be stubborn and at times wary of other animals.
