American Staffordshire Terrier
Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever

The Tibetan Terrier belongs to the Non-Sporting group it is actually not a terrier however it gets the name from its size. This dog breed originates from Tibetan monestaries where they were bred by lamas centuries ago. Known as the Holy Dogs of Tibet they were revered as companions and good luck charms. As a working dog they were responsible for some herding and chores in the mountains. Standing 14 -17 inches at the shoulder and weighing from 18-30 lbs this is as small dog that today is bred mainly for companionship as well as a utility dog or well mannered pet ( a dog that has been trained to compete at the highest level of the American Kennel Club obedience competition ). The Tibetan Terrier is truly an outdoors mountain type dog, its paws are designed for traction and a firm grip in the snow. Sometimes reserved, alert and suspicious around strangers, the Tibetan Terrier responds well to calm training and adequate exercise.Weekly grooming is also needed on its long coat which is colored in all colors and combinations. Mischievous, highly intelligent and able to recognize the feelings of its owner makes this dog breed a wonderful family companion dog. Though they may keep to themselves at times, for a great friend and companion the Tibetan Terrier will fit right into a family environment. They love to follow a scent trail and will act as a watchdog.
