Staffordshire Bull Terrier - Terrier Group

Known as the "Staffie" and renowned for it's tenacity and strength in a pint sized body. The Staffordshire Bull Terrier only stands about 14-16 inches tall and weighs 24-38 pounds though most dogs out of show competitions weigh more. This dog breed has been tagged as a fighter. Given a reputation that certainly isn't as large as the true American Pitbull Terrier. It sometimes is mistaken for a "Pittie" or Pitbull. Athletic and fond of obedience and agility competitions. It was bred to fight in the pit but when this was outlawed it became a loyal companion. "Staffie's" always need to be with a member of the family. The coat is colored in blue, black, red/tan, gold and white, black and white and black brindle. This dog breed needs an hour a day of exercise. Minimal grooming though they love the feel of the comb. Any bully breed needs to be trained thoroughly with repetition. Their short muzzle and compact muscular body may rub off on people as a thug dog. However given a chance and a strong hearted owner these dogs will conform to the dog status quo. He is a beautiful dog and a favorite to those who seek a dog that encourages their own what if imagination.
