Schipperke - Non-Sporting Group
The Schipperke is the national dog of Belgium. It is small and found in the color of black. Almost terrier like, it is a ratter and a watchdog. They are highly affectionate towards their family though not always trusting of strangers. Adventure makes these dogs happy so a long walk in the woods would be greatly appreciated. Their coat needs combing weekly. High energy and over confidence makes this dog a choice for those who have patience and time. Weighing 10-16 lbs and standing 10-13 inches at the shoulder. The Schipperke has size for speed and agility. Training should be easy with patience and reward both vocally and with food. As food and verbal praise are the two best methods of training any dog. The Schipperke has a history of possibly being a boat dog or a watchdog. Royalty has owned this breed and contributed to it's popularity.
