Samoyed - Working Group
The Samoyed is a Russian dog that descended from Siberia. Herding and guarding Reindeer was the task that it was intended for. Sled pulling as well as bear hunting were other purposes that it endured. This dog breed was presented to royalty and was promoted by Queen Alexandria. It's courage and skills at sled pulling were utilized in a trip to Antartica where the Samoyed led trips to the South Pole. They are a guardian and for this reason may not be easy to train. Their wooly coat is found in white, cream, white and biscuit or all biscuit. Grooming should be done three times a week and daily when they shed. Standing 19-23 inches and weighing 35-65 lbs. This dog breed is one of the few working dogs that is well accustomed to other pets. They require a long walk or jog each day. Some of the more noteable characteristics of the Samoyed are that it's mischievous, independent and occasionally stubborn. As with any dog they may be aggressive if not properly cared for.
