The Rhodesian Ridgeback was originally bred to hunt lions. They are defined by the ridge that runs along their back. This gives the dog breed its name. Adequate exercise is necessary to please this dog. This dog breed weighs from 70-80 lbs and stands from 24-28 inches at the withers. Males are heavier and taller than females.
