Originating in the United States, the Redbone Coonhound was bred to hunt the raccoon. This dog breed is gentle and relaxed. They have a great sense of smell and a loud bark. They are loving and should be compatible with other dogs as well as strangers. Their coat is short and should be colored in solid red. Standing from 23-25 inches at the shoulder and weighing 50-60 lbs. The Redbone Coonhound is a dog that is designed to sniff out and hunt raccoon. They are easy to train though they may be stubborn depending on what is being learned. Their short coat needs brushing about once a week. This dog breed loves to lay around and be calm.
