Pyrenean Shepherd - Herding Group
Also known as the "Pyr Shep", the Pyrenean Shepherd is a well balanced herder. Originating in France where the breed is most popular. The Pyrenean Shepherd has a medium length coat colored in fawn, tan, copper sometimes with black hairs. They can also be found in shades of merle of brindle and black/white. Being able to herd as early as 6 months may not be to difficult for the "Pyr Shep". They are loyal and welcoming to their familly but may be wary of strangers. Adequate exercise is needed to match their high energy levels. This dog breed stands 15-21 inches at the shoulder and weighs from 18-33 lbs. When considering owning this dog you must keep into mind that they have a strong drive to herd. Dogs that have a high drive to work may often be too much to handle for owners who are not experienced.
