Originating in England, the Pointer is a dog bred to point birds out in the brush. They are an intense sophisticated hunter and are a great asset to hunters. Their coat is short and is colored in liver, yellow, black or orange in solid colors or with white. Standing from 23-28 inches and weighing from 45-75 lbs. The Pointer is a dog that has a high energy level and needs adequate exercise everyday. They are loveable and gentle with their family though at times may be over excited. This breed is an all around great dog due to their ability to be playful, affectionate and friendly towards other animals. At times they may be suspicious of strangers and can be difficult to train. The Pointer is a great choice for outdoorsman who need a dog to find their prey. As a companion they are not for everyone and especially those with children. However, with the right obedience and training they can adjust to just about any situation. The Pointer loves to hunt as well as run, two types of exercise that will satisfy them.
