Pembroke Welsh Corgi - Herding Group

With a fox like face and a small body with a small tail. The Pembroke Welsh Corgi has a medium length coat and stands 10-13 inches at the shoulder and weighs 20-26 lbs. The coat is colored in red, sable, fawn, black/tan and white. Their size relates to a dog that needed to be small enough to nip the heels of cattle through herding. While it's tenacity had to keep them working at the task through being kicked by the cattle. One could debate that these traits make them a risky family dog. The small stature of the dog would lead one to believe that they are easy to own. However, they have been thought of centuries ago as a guard. Possibly descending from the Swedish Vallhund, this dog carries the coat and strikingly similar looks to it today. Grooming needs to be done weekly along with adequate exercise. They are well suited for both apartments and houses. Recommended for experienced owners, a slightly aggressive attitude may deter would be owners from choosing this dog. This dog may be best suited for a household without children.
