Papillon - Toy Group

Originating in France as a lap dog. The Papillon or "Pap" is quite possibly one of the smartest toy breeds that their are. They are able to excel in obedience trials. Their coat is long and flowing and can be colored in white with mixes of any other color. They stand from 9-12 inches at the shoulder and weigh 5-10 lbs. Being gentle, friendly, adaptable and easy to train are some of their most noble traits. However all dogs need to be treated and trained properly in order to be happy and trustworthy. The Papillon is another dog that was revered to sit in the laps of nobility. Their personality around other dogs and strangers should be calm and is expected to be. Due to their size the "Pap" may not need excessive exercise however games and walks are important. Combing their long coat should be done bi-weekly.
