Otterhound - Hound Group
Originating in England as a tracker and hunter of otter's. The Otterhound is one of the rarest breeds of dog's that their are. They have a rough coat that is of medium length and found in any color. They stand from 24-28 inches at the shoulder and weigh from 80-115 lbs. Their origins are from England as a tracker of otter's that were overtaking the fish population. This was a job but also a sport that lost interest. When the sport of otter hunting lost interest with the usage of dogs. The Otterhound became rare and still is rare today. This dog breed is happy go lucky, loving and loyal to their family as well as other dogs. Through working they love to swim and follow scents. They may be a challenge to train due to their independence. The Otterhound gets along well with strangers. Medium amounts of exercising should be done daily. Their bark has a great pitch to it and is thought to be musical.
