Norwich Terrier - Terrier Group

Originating in England, the Norwich Terrier is a dog that was bred for ratting. Their wiry coat is of medium length is and is colored in different shades of red as well as black and tan. It needs grooming once or more a week. They are a small terrier standing about 11 inches at the shoulder and weighing from 11-13 lbs. As a ratter they are tenacious, and can also be used in packs to flush fox on a hunt. They have a sense of adventure and are zealous. Their content disposition gives them a strict respect though often pleasing attitude. The Norwich Terrier is a highly energetic, affectionate breed. At times they may have a tendency to hunt other pets. They can be challenging with other dogs and humans. They are relatively easy to train though their hunting instinct may cause them to be independent. Exercise should be done for about an hour a day and may include games. Their history is deeply rooted in ratting and hunting. The Norwich Terrier is small however they are a terrier which gives them added courage and devotion.
