Originaing in Norway, the Norwegian Buhund was bred to protect as well as herd livestock. They are courageous and protective as well as energetic. This dog breed loves to play and enjoy a game. Along with being a herder the Norwegian Buhund is also a hunter. This trait gives them a high prey drive which may lead to aggression. Standing abou 17 inches at the shoulder and weighing 28-35 lbs. This dog breed is built for hunting and speed. Their coat is plush and can be found in black to light brown. It needs grooming about once a week. The Norwegian Buhund is easy to train though they may be stubborn. Their instinct to hunt and herd may be difficult to control with improper training and guidance. The body of the Norwegian Buhund is built for all terrains including mountains. This breed is in need of a long walk everyday. Though they are small they are capable and willing to be protective. Dog's that were bred and used to hunt may show
