Miniature Schnauzer - Terrier Group

Originating in Germany, the Miniature Schnauzer was bred for hunting and flushing rats. Their bearded face gives them personality and a tough look. Their coat is wiry and of medium length. It can be colored in black and gray or solid black as well as shades of gray. Standing from 12-15 inches and weighing 14-16 lbs. The Miniature Schnauzer is less aggressive towards other animals than most terriers. It is also more reserved than the Standard Schnauzer and Giant Schnauzer. The Miniature Schnauzer has moderately high energy levels and is very playful. They enjoy playing games and long walks. Training should be done early like all dogs and is best when reinforced with treats or love. This breed has a tendency to be a watchdog and may bark often. They are stubborn, serious, curious and independent. Their loyalty makes them a loveable dog. At one time they were one of the most popular dogs in the United States however today they are not seen as often as in the past.
