Maltese - Toy Group
The Maltese originated from the island of Malta a small European island. They are a companion or lap dog and have an elegant long flowing coat. The coat is only colored in white. Maltese have a friendly, accepting attitude although they may bark often. One would think that such a small dog would be completely friendly however they are not always accepting of strangers. Combing needs to be done twice a week and clipping should be done if you do not want to maintain the long coat of the Maltese. Standing from 8-11 inches at the shoulder and weighing under 8 lbs. The Maltese does not need excessive exercise but is most happy being loved and enjoying a game. Training should be done young like all dogs as the Maltese is not always eager to learn. They are usually tolerant of other dogs.
