Kuvasz - Working Group
Originating in Hungary, the Kuvasz is a dog that is a guardian and a hunter. Guarding estates in Hungary was a purpose that this dog perfected. Wolf and Bear were among the animals that they hunted. Originally in the hands of royalty. The Kuvasz was eventually owned by the general public. Like many other European dog's, the Kuvasz was in danger of extinction during World War I and II. Since these dog's were bred to guard they may be reserved with strangers and wary of other dog's. They weigh 70-100 lbs and stand from 26-30 inches tall. The Kuvasz has a medium length coat and is colored in white. Unfortunately this dog can be dominating so early obedience training is necessary. This breed is hard to train and needs above average exercise. Grooming should be done once or twice a week. Owning this dog means owning an independent dog that may not be affectionate with everyone.
