Komondor - Working Group
Originating in Hungary, the Komondor has an interesting look. It's coat is sheep like, used to mimic the sheep that it protected. An effective guardian as it was, the Komondor may have solely been responsible for eradicating the wolf from Hungary. Luckily for this dog breed it is still used for a guard today though it first entered the United States in the 1930's. Komondor's stand 25-27 inches tall at the shoulder and weigh from 70-80 lbs. They are stubborn and even dominant at times. The thought of a situation of guarding is always in this dog's mind. The Komondor will guard at all times when needed. For this reason they may be wary of strangers and other animals. Grooming is the most important part of owning this breed. It is needed to seperate the strings on their coat to prevent them from binding. This dog breed is relatively easy to train and exercise should be done each day. Their wooly coat is found in white.
