Ibizan Hound - Hound Group
Originating in Ibiza, the Ibizan Hound was bred for hunting rabbits. Their coat can be short or wiry. It is colored in white or red in combinations of both. This dog breed is caring and soft as well as loyal and laid back. They have an enhanced hearing and smelling sense that allows them to track their prey. The Ibizan Hound is quick to chase it's prey and may also chase other small animals. They are in need of adequate exercise though they don't have as much energy as other hounds such as the Afghan Hound. Their tendency to play is innate though at times they may be reserved. The Ibizan Hound is generally accepting of strangers and children as well as other small animals. They can be stubborn and difficult to train as well as over zealous. They stand from 24-28 inches and weigh about 50 lbs. They have remained almost identical to their earliest specimens.
