Greater Swiss Mountain Dog - Working Group
Being the oldest of the four Swiss mountain dogs. It is also the largest. The Greater Swiss Mountain Dog weighs from 85-140 lbs and stands 23-28 inches tall. It is a guardian, herder as well as a butcher dog. The coat is short and needs grooming once a week. For temperament the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog is sensitive, loyal, calm and able to guard or be territorial. These two extremes make for a dog that is loveable and loyal as well as willing to guard it's family and territory. Nicknamed the Swissie, it's a dog that is friendly towards other pets. They can get by with an average walk or small play session a day. Smart and obedient, you may find yourself surprised at it's intelligence. It originated from Switzerland and has signature black and rust with white markings on it's coat.
