The German Wirehaired Pointer is a hunting dog that was bred for all facets of hunting. They are able to point and retrieve during a hunt both in the woods or in water. Their rugged coat is able to protect them from the rought atmosphere in the woods. The wiry hair is also almost water resistant and should be colored in white and liver. This dog breed forms a tight bond with it's family. Able to excel at obedience and hunting trials. They are in need of working and ample exercise in order to remain functional. Without exercise and work, they may be destructive. Their wiry coat needs grooming about once a week. Standing 23-25 inches at the shoulder and weighing from 55-65 lbs. The German Wirehaired Pointer is a rugged looking dog that is the epitome of what a hunting dog should be. From temperament to it's physical attributes. It was made to hunt and work in the outdoors.
