Finnish Spitz - Non-Sporting Group
Originating in Finland as a hunter of birds and other small animals. The Finnish Spitz is independent like a guard dog. However it's also intelligent and obedient enough to be a hunter. This dog breed has a greater attachment than other dogs as it may be likely to become most attached to one person. This can create problems with strangers and other strange dogs. However with early training these problems may not exist. The coat is fluffy and of a medium length and is found in golden-red. Though puppies are black for up to two months. They stand 15-20 inches at the shoulder and weigh from 25-38 lbs. Today it is mainly a companion in the USA however it still is and can be trained to hunt. For all that it is worth they are a dog that may be independent while still being alert and stubborn at times. When owning a Finnish Spitz you should know that it will definitely be at your side.
