Entlebucher Mountain Dog - Herding Group

Originating in Switzerland the Entlebucher Mountain Dog was bred for herding. It is is the smallest of the Swiss mountain dog breeds. Their coat is short and is tricolored. Grooming should be done each week to remove dead hair. Standing about 20 inches at the shoulder and weighing from 58-60 lbs. The Entlebucher Mountain Dog is a rare breed to find outside of it's native Switzerland. They are happy go lucky, willing to please dogs. Exercise should be done for about an hour a day. Like many herding breeds they like to work and if not given the proper training they may tend to herd you in their own amusing yet not appropriate way. They have a muscular build that is ideal for endurance. Training should be done early and consistent, though they are intelligent and not too stubborn. They are eager to learn. The Entlebucher Mountain Dog is often only seen in show.
