Originating in England as a bird flusher and retriever. The English Springer Spaniel has the ability to expose birds in the field and then retrieve them for hunters. Their coat is of medium length and is colored in black, liver, white or all with tan markings. They stand from 18-21 inches at the shoulder and weigh from 40-50 lbs. Originally without the invention of guns these dogs directed birds into nets. This dog breed is happy go lucky, full of energy, playful and ready to work in the field. They are some of the easiest dogs to train and are welcoming of other dogs and strangers.
