English Foxhound - Hound Group
Originating in England, the English Foxhound was bred for hunting fox. Their coat is short and can be colored in any color. This dog breed like the Beagle is generally good with children, small animals and strangers. They are loveable, devoted family dogs that are happy. Though they can be used solely as a companion dog. Their noses can lead them on a scent for miles. Like the Beagle and American Foxhound, two dogs that they resemble. The English Foxhound does not bark it bays. Their coat needs minimal grooming, although dead hair should be removed frequently. This breed needs long walks each day for about one to two hours. At times they may be stubborn and independent but they are a family dog. Standing from 24-26 inches at the shoulder and weighing 60-70 lbs. They are a large breed. Like many of the hounds, the English Foxhound is owned today mainly for working or hunting purposes.
