It stands 17-20 inches at the shoulder and weighs 23-28 lbs. Their coat is short and easy to groom. It can be found in any color. The Whippet was created in England for rabbit hunting sports. It was crossed between the Fox Terrier and Greyhound. The terrier in it's gene pool makes it a tenacious hunter and great scenthound. This dog needs ample exercise. At least a long walk or run once a day. Owners should be cautious in the winter to provide a form of insulation on it's short coat.The Whippet is a dog that loves children, other dogs and laying around in it's domain relaxing. Whippet's can reach speeds of 35mph in full stride.
