Dandie Dinmont Terrier - Terrier Group

Originating in Scotland or England, the Dandie Dinmont Terrier is a dog that was used to hunt vermin. Specifically otter and badger were it's main focus. Their hair is a plush double layer and can be yellow as well as dark silver or gray. Standing 9-10 inches and weighing from 19-25 lbs. The Dandie Dinmont Terrier is a dog that is proud, independent, as well as adapted to their working abilities. At times they may dig or be aggressive towards unknown dogs. They are less likely to be loveable towards unknown people as they are protective. Their coat needs grooming bi-weekly and clipping about three times a year. In general this dog is more of a hunter than a companion. However, that is not to say that it is still man's best friend. They are still loyal, affectionate and willing to please. Like many of the terrier breeds. You may find this dog more apt to be a little wild than calm. It's history is deep rooted in Scotland and England as a vermin (badger, fox, otter) hunter.
