Dalmatian - Non-Sporting Group
The Dalmatian is known most notably for it's white coat and spots which may be black or liver in color. They are thought to be from Dalmatia which is now present day Croatia. Thus they gained the name Dalmatian from their country of origin. A versatile dog, this dog breed has been a hunter, herder, ratter, retriever and guardian. They are essentially the only carriage dog or dog able to follow a horse and carriage. For it's beautiful unique coat and it's popularity with Disney's 101 Dalmatians cartoon. The Dalmatian may be thought of as an easy dog. However, their ability to love to work and occasional aggressive nature. Causes the owner of this dog to be strict in obedience and persistent in exercise habits. Standing 18-22 inches at the shoulder and weighing 55-66 lbs. The Dalmatian is a challenging dog and extremely versatile in it's capabilities. From war dog to movie star, the Dalmatian has proved to be not just ordinary.
