Cocker Spaniel - Sporting Group
The American Cocker Spaniel originated in the United States. In the United States it is simply known as the Cocker Spaniel. The hunting purpose of this dog breed was to flush game out as it is a gundog. It is almost identical to the English Cocker Spaniel except for it's longer more flowing hair. The Cocker Spaniel may suffer from "avalanche of rage" in which the dog may become vicious. However overall this dog breed is loving, gentle and a great companion. Though it was bred for flushing game out of a field or woods. Today it is rarely used as a working dog. The Cocker Spaniel weighs 24-28 lbs, stands 14-15 inches tall and needs adequate exercise. Its coat needs to be well taken care of because of it is silky texture that will attract debris. You will find this dog breed in the colors of black, red and tan, gold, gold and white as well as black and white. Certain Cocker Spaniels may bark often or exhibit submissive traits.
