Originating in England as a small bird hunter as well as a companion. The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel was used in the field to flush small birds out of brush for hunters. Their coat is long and is colored in red, red and white, black and tan as well as tricolor. They stand from 12-13 inches at the shoulder and weigh 13-18 lbs. This dog breed is the true sweetheart of the dog world. They are a lap dog, affectionate, loving, loyal and able to accept other dogs as well as strangers. At times they may be reserved and quiet. They are laid back but also can be quite energetic. Brushing should be done every other day. Exercising this breed for an hour everyday is sufficient.
