They may look rough and serious, however they are actually a great family companion. The Brussels Griffon is a dog that will charm you. Though the Toy breed's are usually thought of as lap dog's. This dog breed can be a ratter and a guard. Able to adapt in all types of living situations. Even though they can be kept in an apartment comfortably. The Brussels Griffon needs to be walked each day. Grooming at least twice a week is needed for their rough coats. Rare and almost extinct through the world wars. This dog originated in Belgium and has a counterpart the Belgian Griffon which has a smooth coat. They stand only 7-8 inches at the shoulder and weigh 7-15 lbs. Their coat is colored in black, red and black/tan. Their beard is intimidating however they are a loving breed. The curiosity this dog has will keep you alert and content. Some people believe that this dog resembles an Ewok from the movie Star Wars.
