Border Terrier - Terrier Group
Originating in England and Scotland, the Border Terrier is used for hunting fox and rats. They stand about 11 inches and weigh from 12-15 lbs. This breed is curious, accepting and at times independent. The Border Terrier is better suited for behaving around other dogs than other terriers. It is relatively easy to train and requires about an hour of exercise a day. This breed is apt to dig as well as bark. It can be a dog that is wary of strangers however with socialization as a puppy they should be obedient. Their coat is short and can be colored in red, tan, blue and tan or brown. Grooming can be done twice a week. Dead hair should be cleaned off their coat about three times a year. The Border Terrier is a dog that is affectionate and playful. They are small but are most certainly not a lap dog. Like most if not all terriers their instinct to hunt is a large part of their temperament.
