Originating in Belgium, the Belgian Tervuren is a dog that was bred for herding. This dog breed is ever watchful and aware. They are born herders and you may find them actually trying to herd you. This dog breed may be aggressive towards other dogs but is usually tolerant of strangers. When they are herding they are in their own little world although their master is recognized. Standing from 23-25 inches at the shoulder and weighing 45-60 lbs. The Belgian Tervuren is a large breed of dog. They are lively in spirit and require at least one to two hours of exercise each day. This dog breed is eager to learn and should be easier to train than most dogs. They are able to protect and have that trait in their breed however they are mostly a herding dog. The Belgian Tervuren has a long soft coat that can be colored in light brown to dark brown with black. Grooming is needed bi-weekly to take care of their long coat and to clean up dead hair.
