Beauceron - Herding Group
Originating in France as a herder and a guardian. The Beauceron was used as a sheep and cow herder. As well as a guard dog. They have a similar resemblance in appearance to a Doberman. Their coat is flat and black and tan. It can also be colored in black, gray and tan. They average about 65- 85 lbs and stand 24-27 inches at the shoulder. This dog breed is exceptionally smart and easy to train. At times they may be wary of strangers and unfamiliar dogs. However, they love to satsify their family with their courageous and patient demeanor. Exercise should be done as a long walk each day as the Beauceron has a high energy level. They are playful and affectionate and along with their loving side. Their other side is a strict military type dog. Capable and used for detecting mines, relaying messages and following directions.
