Bearded Collie - Herding Group
The Bearded Collie originated in Scotland and is used to herd. They are dedicated to herding and if not worked may want to herd people. It is known to be a cheerful and clown like dog that is usually found wagging it's tail continuously. This dog breed is suited for a great family pet and not a watchdog. However all dogs have the guard instinct or instinct to toughen up. With the intelligence factor this dog loves obedience and agility trials as well as performing tricks. The long coat needs adequate grooming daily.
Bearded Collies weigh 40-50 pounds and stand 20-22 inches tall. They are colored in black, cream, gray, dark brown and black and white. Some of their other names throughout the centuries include Highland Sheepdog, Highland Collie and Hairy Moved Collie.
