Australian Terrier - Terrier Group

Originating in Australia, the Australian Terrier is a dog that was bred for eradicating small vermin. They have a medium length coat that is flowing and minimally rugged. It can be colored in blue and tan or in solid colors such as light brown or red. The Australian Terrier has a sense of adventure and is playful. They like it when all eyes are on them and for this reason are easy to train. This breed is generally good with other dogs though they are not always accepting of strangers. Exercise should be done for about an hour a day. Their coat needs grooming weekly and their dead hair should be cleaned three times a year. They are loyal, independent, willing to please and play as well as attentive. Standing about 10 inches and weighing about 13 lbs. They are one of the smaller terriers in stature but not in personality. In general they make a great companion however they love to hunt and love to explore. Their history includes hunting animals such as snakes and even protecting cattle.
