Airedale Terrier - Terrier Group
Originating in England, the Airedale is a proven hunter of vermin such as badgers. Along with being a hunter they are also used to flush and retrieve birds. Their coat is wiry and of medium length. It is colored in brown and black. Airedale Terrier's stand 20-23 inches at the shoulder and weigh from 50-55 lbs. This dog breed has a high energy level, likes to play and is relatively easy to train. They are tolerant of strangers though they may challenge other dogs. Loyal and fearless, the Airedale Terrier is bold and tough minded. Rarely are they intimidated in the face of a challenge. They are truly designed to be a working Terrier. Some Airedale's are used as police dogs. The Airedale Terrier requires an active lifestyle that demands adequate exercise each day. Brushing should be done bi-weekly.
